At WellSpan, clinical research is the cornerstone for providing and advancing the standard of patient care. We are dedicated to the advancement of knowledge and ensuring that our patients received the highest quality of care available. The Emig Research Center is at the core of research activities at WellSpan, offering support in the following areas:
In 2013, the WellSpan Health Human Research Protection Program achieved full accreditation from the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Program (AAHRPP) through June 2016. Accreditation reflects WellSpan Health’s commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of research participants.
The Emig Research Center helps to address health education issues, health care improvement, patient safety and the application of new technology. In addition, research fosters a partnership between our service lines and residency programs to design and conduct research on clinical safety and quality.
We currently have more than 100 Institutional Review Board (IRB)-approved research protocols underway across the organization. In addition, we partner with government, industry and universities by participating in dozens of multi-center research studies in areas such as cancer care, prevention, cardiac care, infectious disease, behavioral health and surgical & trauma. We have participated in studies on therapies, diagnostic testing, new drugs and new devices.
Our team supports researchers across the organization in publishing scientific article in medical nursing and allied health publications.
