Clinical collaboration brings Johns Hopkins School of Medicine surgeon to WellSpan medical practice

WellSpan Health has opened WellSpan Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in York, in a clinical collaboration with Johns Hopkins Medicine.

The new surgical practice is located at 296 St. Charles Way in York. Hooman Soltanian, M.D., associate professor, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, practices at the new location.

Dr. Soltanian earned a medical degree from University of Munich School of Medicine and performed residencies in neurosurgery at the University of Saarland and University of Bonn, both in Germany; general surgery at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center; and plastic surgery at Albany Medical Center. He also completed fellowships in hand surgery and microsurgery at New York University Medical Center. Dr. Soltanian is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

“We are excited to announce this clinical collaboration with Johns Hopkins Medicine,” said Karen Jones, M.D., senior vice president, WellSpan Health, and president, WellSpan Medical Group. “Dr. Soltanian’s outstanding expertise and track record will allow patients to receive leading-edge plastic and reconstructive surgery, including the most advanced microvascular reconstruction, right here in York County.”

Dr. Soltanian performs advanced surgical procedures at WellSpan York Hospital, including Deep Inferior Epigastric Artery Perforator (DIEP) Flap, where skin and tissue are taken from the abdomen to recreate a patient’s breast, often following a mastectomy.

“Patients can now count on state-of-the-art reconstructive procedures being available to them in York,” said Soltanian. “We are able to help patients achieve a level of physical and emotional functionality following mastectomy.”
