John Monk and Edward Garber have been designed a Bariatric Center for Excellence by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). The ASMBS recognizes that excellent patient care is the result of both the individual surgeon and the facility in which the surgery is performed. The designation helps identify providers and facilities that have met the requirements for delivering high-quality perioperative and long-term, follow-up care.

Intuitive Surgical, the manufacturer of the da Vinci Surgical System, designated WellSpan York Hospital as a Robotic Epicenter due to its successful outcomes and robotic-assisted gynecologic surgery volumes. Patients who undergo this type of surgery at WellSpan York Hospital have the benefit of surgeons who have more experience in robotic techniques than at other hospitals who have the da Vinci Surgical System but are not designated as epicenters.
WellSpan York Hospital has been certified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center by The Joint Commission, meaning that the hospital has met standards for treating the most complex stroke cases and is ready 24/7 to deliver advance stroke care to patients.
