Visitor Policy

Effective Monday, April 24, 2023, due to the continuing decrease of COVID-19 cases across South Central Pennsylvania, wearing a face mask in a WellSpan Health care facility is not required, with the following exceptions:

  • When you are suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19
  • For ten days following a high-risk exposure to COVID-19
  • When visiting an immunocompromised patient
  • In an area or department designated as requiring masks due to critical patient care
  • In a county where COVID transmission is high and masking is required by the CDC
  • When cleared to return to work following a positive COVID-19 test until ALL symptoms are fully resolved

Wearing a mask is recommended:

  • If you or a household member is considered at high risk for severe disease
  • Based on personal preference

Patient Visitation

People who are sick or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms (including fever, cough, and shortness of breath or difficulty breathing) should not visit patients.

Visitation Levels

Green Level (Reopened Visitation)

Patient Visitation

In all patient care locations, general visitation is open (green), with the exception of COVID positive and pending patients.

COVID-19 Patient Visitation

COVID-19 positive or pending patients may designate two support persons for visitation. Visitation by one designated support person at a time will be allowed.

All approved visitors will be provided with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that will be worn during the duration of the patient visit. While visiting a COVID-19 patient, the visitor will be provided with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including a gown, mask, and protective eyewear.

Visitation Guidelines

Please do not come to a WellSpan care facility to visit a patient if you:

  • Feel sick or have COVID-19 or flu-like symptoms.
  • Tested positive for COVID-19, within the last three weeks.
  • Have been advised to get a COVID-19 test or are waiting for the results of a COVID-19 test.
  • Have been in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19 within the last two weeks.
  • Have been asked to be on home quarantine or in isolation.
