Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:

I love the study of human physiology and anatomy. It's amazing to me that at the core level we are all inherently genetically engineered the same way. Endocrinology is a very logical field with a system of negative feedback. I love working with patients and explaining to them how their bodies work. This makes for a very engaging relationship.

What I want my patients to know about me:

I want my patients to understand that they are a very important part of the decision-making process. I feel it is my job to present them with options and also background information regarding the disease process. I don't believe that prescribing medications without patient input or participation leads to compliance and subsequently to good outcomes. I view patients as partners in this journey together.

What I do when I'm not seeing patients:

I enjoy hiking, and I love the study of ancient civilizations. Archaeology fascinates me, and, if I had not gone into medicine, I would have pursued this career. We can learn a lot from our past.
