Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:

This wonderful occupation allows me to help people in an interesting variety of different ways. Treating specific conditions (such as diabetes, sinus infections, and high blood pressure) are no doubt important and gratifying. But even more gratifying is getting to know people as well as you do in our line of work. Many of patient are not looking for diseases to be cured. They are looking for a caring voice, for a receptive pair of ears to listen to them, for a trusted friend to not only coordinate their care but to provide emotional support. This line of service is even more gratifying.

What I want my patients to know about me:

My patients should know that I am not as serious as I sometimes appear on the surface.

What I do when I'm not seeing patients:

I enjoy my four children, trying not to "undo" all of the discipline that their mother worked so hard to establish.
