Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
I vividly remember my childhood pediatrician with his long white coat, ever present stethoscope, and kind nature. His calming bedside manner was second to none. Another early influence growing up in Houston, Texas was seeing Dr. Red Duke, a famous trauma surgeon at work. In the midst of a grueling trauma surgery residency, he exemplified the caring, dedication and knowledge necessary to heal his patients. These indelible memories, along with a genuine love for biology, shaped my desire to be a physician.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I describe myself as a genuine, caring and easy-going person. I will listen to you, I will respect you, and will not abandon you. I strive to keep your goals at the center of everything that we do. Since part of my medical training occurred in Guadalajara, Mexico, I am fluent in Spanish and currently care for many Latino patients.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I have three loves: family, food and sports. I enjoy traveling and sightseeing with my wife and son. I love cooking when I have a free moment. I make some mean Texas chili! I love to play basketball and tennis. I enjoy watching pro basketball, and my favorite team is, of course, the Houston Rockets.
