Fire-related incident at WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital

The following statement was provided by WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, regarding a fire-related incident at the hospital:
 
Fire and emergency officials are currently on the WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital campus following a fire-related incident at the building this morning.
 
Crews were called to the hospital shortly after 11 a.m. and remain on site as they investigate the cause and ensure that there is no remaining fire. 
 
Nobody was injured as a result of the incident.
 
However, a significant amount of smoke in the building has resulted in some patients being moved to other units within the building, and others transferred to area hospitals.
 
We have canceled outpatient services at the hospital for the remainder of the day.
 
The hospital emergency department remains open for walk-in appointments. In addition, WellSpan Urgent Care remains open for those seeking non-emergency care. That office is located at 455 South Washington St., Gettysburg. All medical practices and services at our adjacent Medical Office Building also remain open and operational.
 
The safety of our patients and staff are our top priority. We continue to work with emergency officials to ensure the building is safe and to determine the need for repairs.
 
We will provide updates throughout the day as more information becomes available.
