Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
I was a critical care nurse for more than 20 years at Chambersburg Hospital, but I saw critical care as being on one extreme of the health care continuum dealing with the severe consequences of disease and illness. I wanted to be more on the front end of this and deal with chronic health conditions in the preventative/management stages. Critical care is very labor intensive with long hours and it is physically, mentally and emotionally draining. I knew I could not retire from that position. I have always wanted to pursue my Master's degree in Nursing and NP seemed like a perfect fit for my goals as a nurse.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I was born and raised in Franklin County actually. When I went to nursing school, I assumed I'd leave after college, but I ended up returning to this area. It's where my family and friends are at. I enjoy customizing care plans for patients so I'm looking forward to doing more of that. I also look forward to working with our patients and integrating their family as well instead of treating them just as an individual.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading books, and taking part in my local church activities.
