WellSpan Health implements revised visitation guidelines, effective Monday, Feb. 7

The health and safety of patients, visitors, and employees remains WellSpan Health's top priority as the health system continues to manage COVID-19 cases in our communities. Effective Monday, February 7, 2022, due to decreasing hospitalizations of COVID-19 across South Central Pennsylvania, patients at WellSpan hospitals, including COVID-19 positive patients, are allowed one visitor or support person at a time. Up to two designated visitors are permitted per the patient's length of stay.

Under the revised visitation guidance, the rotation of one visitor between the two designated support persons is permitted. This includes the visitation of COVID-19 patients.

At entry to a WellSpan care facility, all visitors will continue to follow safety precautions, even if fully vaccinated against COVID-19, which include:

  • Being screened daily for COVID-19 symptoms through a verbal screening when entering a care facility.
  • Wearing an appropriate face mask that fully covers the nose and mouth at all times, including when in the patient's room. A mask will be provided to visitors if necessary or by the determination of WellSpan screening staff.

While visiting a COVID-19 patient, approved visitors will be provided with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including a gown, mask, and protective eyewear, which will be worn for the duration of the visit while in the patient room.

Safety remains WellSpan's top priority. The health system continues to monitor the number of COVID-19 cases in the community and will adjust its visitation policies as needed to protect our patients and employees. WellSpan recognizes the difficulties the limited visitation policy presents to families, and continues to offer virtual visitation for those that can't be with loved ones during these challenging times.

WellSpan's updated visitation policy is available here.

WellSpan Health continues to stress the need for following safety efforts in slowing the spread of COVID-19.

If you are experiencing non-emergent health issues, please consider seeking care at a convenient WellSpan Urgent Care or WellSpan primary care location. Also, patients are encouraged to use WellSpan Online Urgent Care to be seen quickly and safely, without the need to travel to a care location. Patients can go here to get started.

To protect yourself, your family and our communities, remember these simple, effective steps to stay safe and stop the spread of COVID-19 in our communities:

  • Get the vaccine.
  • Limit gathering sizes – even small gatherings carry big risk.
  • Follow masking and social distancing guidelines.
