While the centerpiece of Apex is construction of the Surgical and Critical Care Tower, other expansion and renovation projects at York Hospital are making visible and rapid progress!
One of these projects is the expansion of the Interventional Radiology suite. Phase one of the project involves modernizing an existing IR room, which will feature new state-of-the-art equipment, monoplane imaging and a procedure room for ultrasound-guided interventions.
Phase one also involves adding four preparation and recovery bays, which will reduce the need to use recovery rooms in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) and short stay unit (SSU). Ancillary spaces are being added as well.
Currently, the construction team is priming and painting walls; installing mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems; and installing ceiling grids.
This first stage of expansion is scheduled for completion in fall of this year.
A second phase will further expand the IR suite, adding biplane imaging equipment and another procedure room for ultrasound-guided interventions. Additionally, six more preparation and recovery bays and additional ancillary space will be added.
