Our WellSpan Waynesboro Hospital Pharmacy Residency preceptors are a highly trained and experienced team. Our caring pharmacy educators provide rigorous training that prepares you for a successful career.

Dr. Jarett Logsdon, PharmD, BCICDP, serves as the Residency Program Director and preceptor for various learning experiences including Infectious Diseases, Biostatistics and Ambulatory Care. He earned his PharmD from Shenandoah University in 2013. Before completing his degree, Dr. Logsdon dedicated six years to working in community pharmacy. Post-graduation, Dr. Logsdon took on roles at Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania, serving as an inpatient pharmacist for the critical access hospital and consultant pharmacist for the attached nursing home.

In 2015, he transitioned to Waynesboro Hospital as a clinical/staff pharmacist, later assuming the positions of Pharmacy Operations Manager and Residency Program Director in 2017. In 2019, Dr. Logsdon achieved board certification as an infectious disease pharmacist (BCIDP).

His passion extends to infectious diseases, fostering a culture where everyone feels safe to express concerns, advocating for the well-being of small community hospitals, and expanding the clinical role of pharmacists. He enjoys leveraging clinical and operational knowledge to achieve financial savings and while maintaining or improving patient outcomes.

Dr. Melissa Mooers Gross, BS, PharmD, MHA, CPEL, BCIDP, BCPP, BCGP, BCPS, CPPS, LSSGB, is the preceptor for the Inpatient Psychiatry I and II rotations of the PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency Program at Chambersburg Hospital and Residency Site Coordinator.

Dr. Mooers Gross received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh in August 2000. As a dual major at Pitt, she graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in April 2001. She achieved Board Certified Psychiatric Pharmacy Specialist (BCPP) status in 2006, Board Certified Geriatric Pharmacist (BCGP) status in 2008, Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) status in 2009 and Board Certified Infectious Diseases Pharmacist (BCIDP) status in 2018. Dr. Gross obtained a Master of Health Administration degree from the University of Scranton and became a Certified Professional in Patient Safety in 2020. In 2023, Melissa completed her certification as a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt with an interest in lean daily management and process improvement. Also, Melissa currently serves as the consulting pharmacist for the Franklin Fulton Mental Health Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.

At Chambersburg Hospital, Melissa is the Regional Manager – Clinical Pharmacy Services (West Region) and a member of the Residency Advisory Committee, Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee, Infection Control Committee, Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Investigational Review Board (Vice Chair), Medication Management and Safety Committee, Pharmacy Engagement Team, Stroke Clinical Effectiveness Team, Healthy Franklin County, NICU Committee, Practice and Quality Council, Formulary Committee and Congestive Heart Failure Steering Committee. In her role, Melissa has oversight of clinical services at Chambersburg Hospital, Waynesboro Hospital and Gettysburg Hospital. Her areas of focus include antimicrobial stewardship, behavioral health, investigational studies, medication/patient safety, regulatory compliance, formulary management, population health and standardization of best practices.

Dr. Clint Pentz, PharmD, MBA, BCPS, serves as the primary preceptor for Practice Management and Medication Safety. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Business Administration from Shenandoah University in 2008. His career commenced as an inpatient pharmacist in 2008 at Waynesboro Hospital, where he was later promoted to Pharmacy Manager.

Dr. Pentz achieved Board Certification as a Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) in July 2014. Dr. Pentz is also recognized as the original Residency Program Director, launching the program in 2015. He became the Director of Pharmacy for Summit Health in 2017. In 2022, he embraced a new challenge during a restructuring at WellSpan Health, transitioning positively to the role of Pharmacy Operations Manager at Chambersburg Hospital, where he continues to contribute his expertise.

Dr. Dustin Walker, PharmD, BCNSP, CNSC serves as a preceptor for the Critical Care experience. Dr. Walker received his PharmD from Temple University School of Pharmacy. He worked as a community pharmacy technician and later as a community pharmacist for ten years before transitioning to a clinical pharmacist role at the Chambersburg Hospital in 2017 and has also served as a pharmacist in the uniformed services since 2018.

He has since received Nutrition Support Pharmacy Specialty Certification (BCNSP) and National Board of Nutrition Support Certification (CNSC). Throughout his career, he has focused on pain management, opioid stewardship, health system informatics and critical care.

Dr. Benton Miller, PharmD, received his PharmD and Bachelors in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Duquesne University School of Pharmacy in 2018. He completed a PGY-1 residency at WellSpan Waynesboro and Chambersburg Hospitals in 2019. He enjoys the opportunity to work and precept at the same institution where he completed his residency.

During his time as a pharmacist at WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital, he has focused on critical care, antimicrobial stewardship and behavioral health. Dr. Miller is the lead preceptor for the critical care rotation at WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital. He is also co-preceptor of the inpatient behavioral health rotation at WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital with Dr. Gross.

Dr. Laurie Vogel, PharmD, serves as lead preceptor for the Transitions of Care and Staffing experience. Dr. Vogel received her PharmD from Shenandoah University, Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy. After graduation, she worked at CVS/Pharmacy as a staff pharmacist and then Pharmacist-in-Charge. In 2010 she joined the staff at Waynesboro Hospital and serves as a clinical staff pharmacist. She enjoys antimicrobial stewardship initiatives as well as transitions of care.

Dr. Alayna Miller, PharmD, serves as lead preceptor for the Internal Medication learning experience. Dr. Miller earned her PharmD at Shenandoah University in 2018. She completed a PGY-1 residency at Meritus Medical Center, where she then was a clinical pharmacist for two years. She started at Waynesboro Hospital in 2021. Her areas of interest include internal medicine, anticoagulation and teaching.

Dr. Mark Johnson, PharmD, BCPS, serves as lead preceptor for the teaching certificate experience. Dr. Johnson completed pre-pharmacy studies at the University of Virginia. He received a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy from the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University. He completed a hospital pharmacy residency and pharmacy practice residency at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals.

Dr. Johnson’s interests include spirituality in health, infectious diseases, new drugs and pharmacy residency teaching certificate programs. Dr. Johnson maintains a clinical pharmacy practice in internal medicine/infectious diseases at Winchester Medical Center.
