WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital provides a homelike Maternity Center and special programs and services to help families get off to a good start.
Amenities and guest services
Snack Bar
A Snack Bar located on the first floor in the main lobby serves meals and light refreshments to visitors and patients.
Hours of operation:
Monday through Friday: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Please note that due to possible dietary restrictions, menu items from the cafeteria cannot be purchased for patients.
Cafeteria
The cafeteria is located on the hospital's ground floor.
Hours of operation:
Breakfast: 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Lunch: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Dinner: 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Salad bar, deli bar and grab-n-go items are available from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Please note that due to possible dietary restrictions, menu items from the cafeteria cannot be purchased for patients.
Vending Areas
A vending machine room, located on the first floor at the corner of the B1 and Diagnostic Testing hallways, is available 24-hours-a-day for beverages and snacks. Another vending room is located on the ground floor to the right of the cafeteria entrance.
The WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital Hospitality Shop features a fine selection of cards, gifts and magazines and is located on the first floor in the main lobby. It is operated by the Gettysburg Hospital Auxiliary.

Can't get in to visit a friend or family member in the hospital in person? Send some words of cheer or encouragement to a friend or loved one in the hospital. WellSpan eGreetings are a free service and available for patients at WellSpan Hospitals.
Complementary wireless internet service (also known as WiFi) is available in patient rooms and in many areas throughout the hospital. Please note that laptop computers should not be used within two feet of electronic patient care equipment for safety reasons.
Television
Remote-controlled color television is provided in every patient room as a free service and is complements of Gettysburg Hospital Foundation. We offer access to local channels and many of your favorite cable channels. We also encourage patients and their visitors to review our patient education channel, which provides important information designed to explain hospital programs and policies and to provide information to aid patients in their recovery.
Telephones
For your convenience, every patient room has a telephone. You may make local calls by dialing "8" then the number. For long distance calls dial "8-0," the area code and phone number. Please note that all long-distance calls must be made as collect calls or using a credit card.
A meditation room (chapel) is located on the second floor and is open for patients, visitors and staff.
Pastoral Care at WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital is available at all times. A hospital staff chaplain is in-house Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additionally, chaplains are available for emergencies at night and on the weekends.
A meditation room (chapel) is located on the second floor and is open for patients, visitors and staff.
The hospital maintains a current list of interpreters to ensure communications with those patients who do not speak or understand the English language. Spanish interpreters on staff are generally available in the hospital Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and weekends, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A phone service is also available for languages not covered by the interpreter list.

Leapfrog Recognition
The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization driving a movement for giant leaps forward in the quality and safety of American health care. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assigns letter grades to hospitals based on their record of patient safety, helping consumers protect themselves and their families from errors, injuries, accidents and infections. WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital has earned the highest designation of an 'A' grade.
In addition, WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital has been named a Top General Hospital by The Leapfrog Group. The Leapfrog Top Hospital award is widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive awards American hospitals can receive. Over 2,200 hospitals were considered for the award, with 115 nationwide being selected as Top Hospitals in the categories of children’s hospitals, general hospitals, rural hospitals, and teaching hospitals. Hospitals surveyed by Leapfrog annually are considered Top Hospitals if they are deemed to have better systems in place to prevent medication errors and lower infection rates. Hospitals must also have received an A in the most recent Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades in order to be eligible for the Top Hospital designation.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has ranked WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital as 4 Stars for Overall Hospital Quality. The overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings apply across the country based on each hospitals performance across five quality categories including: mortality, safety or care, readmission, patient experience and timely and effective care.

High Performing by U.S. News and World Report
WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital has met or exceeded the criteria to be designated a high performing provider for 2023-2024 in the treatment of heart attack. The annual Best Hospitals ranking evaluated more than 4,500 medical centers nationwide in 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions. Rankings are largely based on objective measures like volume, discharge-to-home rates, and quality of nursing.

Pathway to Excellence Hospital
The American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) has awarded WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital Pathway to Excellence status. Similar to ANCC's Magnet Program, Pathway to Excellence is designed for smaller hospitals and focuses on the importance of a positive professional environment for nurses and its impact on the quality of care provided to patients.

WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital is recognized as a Gold Level Safe Sleep facility for its commitment to best practices and education on infant safe sleep. As a nationally certified Safe Sleep Hospital, the hospital is recognized by Cribs for Kids for following the safe sleep guidelines recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics and for providing training programs for healthcare team members and family caregivers.

Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Distinction Center
WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital has been recognized for delivering high-quality, effective and cost-efficient specialty care by Blue Cross Blue Shield. Meeting specific quality standards has provided the hospital with the opportunity to become a Blue Distinction Center for the following service lines: Maternity Care and Knee and Hip Replacement.

WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital has been accredited by DNV-GL since 2018. In addition, the hospital is certified by DNV for primary stroke.
CANCER CARE
Nationally Accreditation Program for Breast Centers
The Adams Cancer Center at WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital is accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) by the American College of Surgeons. During the accreditation process the Adams Cancer Center demonstrated compliance with standards which focus on center leadership, clinical management, research, community outreach, professional education, and quality improvement.
MATERNITY & NEWBORN CARE
Keystone 10 Facility
WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital is designated as a Keystone 10 facility, for implementing evidence-based maternity care practices to help improve breastfeeding care and rates, as well as improving the health of new mothers and babies. Keystone 10, administered by the Pa. Department of Health and the Pa. Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, is a quality improvement breastfeeding initiative that began in 2014. It is aimed at improving the protection, promotion, and support of breastfeeding for all Pennsylvania infants, mothers and families.
