Description

Adolescent CBT & DBT Skills group is an outpatient group that can allow individuals to address a number of presenting problems such as anxiety, depression, and emotion dysregulation. This group will focus on a number of concepts such as mindfulness, emotion regulation skills, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, wise mind, radical acceptance, behavioral activation, cognitive distortions, problem solving, relaxation skills, and more! This is an introductory skills-based group that offers an advanced version upon completion of this group. Group sessions focus on: 

  • Psychoeducation of the Cognitive and Dialectical models 
  • Mindfulness 
  • Emotion Regulation 
  • Distress Tolerance 
  • Interpersonal Effectiveness/Assertive Communication 
  • Wise Mind 
  • Radical Acceptance 
  • Behavioral Activation/Activity Scheduling 
  • Cognitive Distortions 
  • Pros and Cons/Problem Solving 
  • Relaxation 
  • Opposite Action/Exposure 
  • DTR 
  • Core Beliefs  

Group members must have the ability to communicate effectively in group format. Potential participants cannot have active psychosis, active addiction or active suicidal/homicidal thoughts.

Instructions

This 12-week group meets on Mondays at 5:30 to 6:30 pm with group leaders Angela Sollenberger, LPC and Samantha Boone, PsyD. While all efforts will be made to assist you in entering a group as quickly as possible, you may need to be temporarily added to a waitlist.
