Gifts to WellSpan help our patients and their families
Expanding cardiovascular services close to home
WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital has advanced its cardiovascular services for the people of Adams County and Northern Maryland.
In September 2018, we started offering interventional cardiology services, which includes stenting and advanced electrophysiology procedures. By offering these services in Gettysburg, we can reduce the time needed to restore a heart attack victim’s blood flow with the added value of having family and friends nearby.
Giving opportunities exist to support our cardiovascular work. Please contact Kristin Vought at kvought@wellspan.org to learn how you can help!

Helping families with food insecurity access healthy food
Not having the funds to purchase fresh, nutritious food, many families end up eating a diet of highly processed, unhealthy food. This can lead to health issues like obesity, diabetes and malnutrition.
Healthy Options, managed by Healthy Adams County, is funded by your gifts to the Gettysburg Hospital Foundation to help individuals and families gain access to nutritious food.
Through Healthy Options, participants receive vouchers for fresh fruits, vegetables and more at the Adams County Farmers Market and Kennie’s Market.
"Healthy Options has changed my life. My diet has improved. I can make good choices, so I eat better now. I couldn't afford to buy fresh, good food and my health was suffering…. I love this program!" – Sharon, Healthy Options participant

Inspiring and advancing nursing
Committed to developing our nursing leaders at WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital, the Alan Carroll Lectureship provides a day-long series of continuing education opportunities that meet the needs of our community’s nurses.
Formed in honor of Dr. Alan Carroll, an Emmitsburg physician, the lectureship is a natural extension of Dr. Carroll’s belief in the value of well-educated and dedicated nurses. The annual lecture provides a forum for clinical education, personal motivation and the discussion of topics relevant to today’s nursing profession.
In addition to the annual lectureship series, the foundation supports several nurses through annual scholarship programs such as the Esther G. Little Nursing Scholarship and the Twila Charles Scholarship.
