WellSpan Health today announces that John Massimilla, vice president, WellSpan Health; and president, WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital has been named the Shippensburg Person of the Year Award for 2020 by members of the Shippensburg Area Chamber of Commerce. The award ceremony was delayed a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"No one individual accomplishes anything alone. I have had the good fortune of working in an organization with supportive boards of directors, supportive leaders and a fantastic group of team members focused on our mission in the community," said Massimilla. "I look at our mission to provide exceptional care to those in our communities, and the teamwork and resolve of those around me is what makes this all a reality."
Massimilla has been with the hospital since 1990 in the role of chief operating officer until October 2020 when he was named to his current role. He has been very involved in the community serving on a variety of Boards over the years in the Chambersburg and Shippensburg communities.
The Shippensburg Person of the Year Award recognizes a leader who makes a positive contribution to enhance the community, either by a single event or an on-going impact in that calendar year. This award is given for demonstrated leadership and service beyond the call of duty and contributing to improving the quality of life in the Shippensburg area.
Massimilla was recognized for the award on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at the Chamber's Annual Awards Breakfast held at Shippensburg University.
