This week, patients and community members will be able to schedule an appointment for updated COVID-19 vaccines. 

Earlier this month, the Food and Drug Administration and U.S. Centers for Disease Control approved use of updated COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna for added protection against the illness this fall and winter. They recommended the vaccine be received by anyone age six months or older who has not received a COVID-19 vaccination in the last two months. 

Appointments for the new vaccine can be scheduled at WellSpan Family Medicine, Internal Medicine and Pediatric Medicine practices, as well as WellSpan retail pharmacy locations, pending vaccine availability. 

There are multiple COVID-19 variants circulating in the community right now, including several that have emerged since the new vaccine was formulated. Early indications have shown that the vaccine is effective and the best way to protect yourself against COVID-19.
