Ready to boost your health and well-being during the cold winter months? WellSpan’s Winter STREAK wellness program is here to help.
Winter STREAK is a free 12-week community-based program designed to help participants increase physical activity, eat healthier and reduce stress during the cold winter months. The program runs from Jan. 6 to March 28. You can join at any time during the program. Visit winterstreak.org to register.
Complete a STREAK in any form or fashion to string together daily, consistent healthy habits over time and win prizes.
WellSpan Community Health and our community partners have created a variety of tools to support you on your journey, including six virtual workshops, recipe cards, bingo cards, Winter STREAK Wellness Guide (available in English and Spanish) and a newsletter.
Prize details
You have many opportunities to win prizes, including health and wellness baskets and a grand prize valued at up to $500. For the health and wellness basket prizes, participants can earn up to 14 entries by following the steps outlined at winterstreak.org. The more you participate, the more chances you have to win.
Workshop details
Virtual workshops – which are offered on multiple times on Wednesdays – include:
- “Choose Your Better – Think Big, Start Small,” Jan. 8, noon and 5:30 p.m. Learn how to empower yourself, overcome challenges and live a full life. Presenter is Michael Diller, Wellbeing program administrator and licensed psychologist.
- “Flexibility 101,” Jan. 22, noon and 5:30 p.m. Learn whole-body stretches you can do throughout the day. Presenter is Jody Moyer, athletic trainer.
- “Cooking Demo: Chicken Taco Lettuce Wraps,” Feb. 5, noon and 5:30 p.m. Learn how to make a quick, easy and heart-healthy entrée. Presenters are Diaz Woodard, community outreach coordinator, and Amy Watson, clinical outpatient cardiac rehab dietitian (shown below).
- “Finding Meaning Can Change Your Day,” Feb. 19, noon and 5:30 p.m. Explore how gratefulness and being in the “here and now” can change your life. Presenter is Peter Kuhn, director of spiritual care and education.
- “Strength Training Made Easy,” March 5, noon and 5:30 p.m. Learn whole-body strengthening exercises you can do throughout the day. Presenter is Megan Miliziano, athletic trainer.
- “Cooking Demo: Ripe Plantain Casserole,” March 19, noon and 5:30 p.m. Finish out Winter STREAK with a delicious cultural dish. Presenters are Juan Sanchez Caba, community outreach coordinator, and Joe Anne Ward-Cottrell, community health lead coordinator
