WellSpan Health and community leaders gathered today for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the new WellSpan Outpatient Center at CityGate, a state-of-the-art $23 million facility designed to meet the growing health care needs of Lancaster County.

The center offers increased access to specialty surgery and medical care to patients just outside Lancaster. The two-story building is conveniently located just off Route 30 and Route 283, near The Shoppes at Belmont on the Fruitville Pike.

“Our patients asked us for access to care closer to their homes. As our network of providers expands in Lancaster County, this was a natural outgrowth of that,” says Jim Stuccio, WellSpan senior vice president for the East Region, which includes Lancaster County. “We will be able to meet and treat patients where they are in this brand-new facility. We want to offer the right care, in the right place for our community.”

The innovative 34,000-square-foot facility was designed with the future of health care in mind, with three operating rooms set to accommodate the latest technologies. Surgical centers offer outpatient surgeries to patients at costs 45% to 60% less than in a hospital setting, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The surgery center also features a 20-bed pre/post-anesthesia care area divided into two distinct spaces depending on care needs. Surgery patients also can obtain outpatient lab services at the center. In addition, imaging services, including X-ray and MRI services, are available by appointment. 

Medical offices are located on the top floor of the top story of the building. The WellSpan Urology practice and WellSpan Plastic Surgery practices will be situated there with the space to accommodate additional practices opening in the future, based on the needs of the community.

Parking is located underneath the building as well as in a surrounding lot, offering space for about 150 vehicles.
