James Stuccio, JD, MBA, FACHE, is senior vice president of WellSpan’s East Region. In this role, James is responsible for strategy, growth and operational excellence in two acute-care hospitals (WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital and WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital), a comprehensive inpatient and outpatient behavioral health campus (WellSpan Philhaven – Mt. Gretna), and all services within Lancaster and Lebanon Counties. Additionally, James leads the business development team in network development, workforce solutions (EAP, Well at Work, and Direct to Employer), and new business growth.
James has 35 years of professional healthcare experience in leading medical group, ambulatory, inpatient, and post-acute services in both regional and university health systems. He has served as the president of large medical groups in Pennsylvania and Ohio. Prior to joining WellSpan, he served as the chief operating officer of a 525-bed teaching hospital with the only Level 1 trauma center in its region.
Known for his commitment to his community and his experience in growing integrated clinical programs, James holds a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree in business administration, and a Juris Doctor degree. He has achieved the Fellow status in the American College of Healthcare executives (FACHE) and has completed coursework from Harvard Business School. James holds Lean Management Systems Green Belt and Just Culture certifications.
James is a member of the American Hospital Association Regional Policy Board 2; chairman of the Quest Behavioral Health board of directors; and a member of the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce Strategic Planning Committee. James is an ex officio member of the WellSpan East Region board of directors, which includes the boards for WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital, WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital and WellSpan Philhaven Hospital.
