James Boyle III, DDS, is an associate clinical dentist for the General Practice Residency in Dentistry program at WellSpan York Hospital. Dr. Boyle is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
He is a graduate of the Northwestern University Dental School and completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency and bone fixation research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Boyle is also a commander in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps, having retired from the Navy Reserve in 2003. While on active duty for 13 years, he served aboard two aircraft carriers, USS Carl Vinson and USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, and served as the oral and maxillofacial surgeon at U.S. Naval Hospital Rota in Spain. He has been in private practice in York, Pennsylvania, and a member of the WellSpan York Hospital surgical staff since 1998.
A graduate of York Catholic High School, Dr. Boyle is very familiar with central Pennsylvania and has been involved in a variety of activities from coaching, officiating, scouts, school and church committees. Dr. Boyle is past president of the Pennsylvania Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Pennsylvania Dental Association. He was recently elected to a four-year term as a trustee of the American Dental Association’s board of trustees.
