WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital

This rural 217-bed community hospital provides unique experiences for emergency medicine residents. The rural location allows residents to gain experience in a community hospital setting.

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia

One of the premier children’s hospitals in the world, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is the site of an excellent pediatric emergency medicine rotation.

Highlights include:

ED volume of approximately 94,000 visits per year
Full spectrum of pediatric emergencies
Urban academic center
Nationally renowned faculty
Interaction with EM residents from other local programs
Apartment in Philadelphia available for resident use

In addition to basic life support (BLS), advanced life support (ALS) and advanced trauma life support (ATLS), our residents gain advanced certifications, including:

Application process

Thank you for your interest in the WellSpan York Hospital Emergency Medicine Residency Program.

We’re excited about our upcoming 2024 interview season, which will have a hybrid format with both in-person and virtual interview dates.

To mitigate any bias and maximize fairness and equity, the interview formats will be identical with the exception of an in-person ED tour and lunch. The chosen format won’t be used in any determination of the rank list process and is entirely up to applicant preference.

Residents will complete and submit their applications exclusively through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).

We do read every aspect of your residency application, so we appreciate the time and effort you’ve put into your application. Please note that your USMLE or COMLEX scores are required as part of your application. A passing score on Step 1 and both portions of Step 2 of the USMLE exam is strongly encouraged.

We’ll begin offering interviews the first week in October and continue on a rolling basis throughout the interview season.

Our first interview dates are in October, and subsequent interview dates take place on Mondays in November, December and January through January 15. We’ll hold optional in-person second looks throughout the interview season.
