Robert I. Pargament, MD, FACP

Medical school: University of Maryland School of Medicine

Undergraduate: University of Maryland

Dr. Pargament joined the internal medicine faculty in 2004, after completing his internal medicine residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He has had a variety of teaching roles since then, including medical student clerkship director and associate program director. Dr. Pargament was appointed Program Director in 2014. He maintains an outpatient practice at Apple Hill Internal Medicine and attends on the inpatient resident service. Areas of special interest include medical education and preventive medicine.

Interests and hobbies: In non-work time, I try to be as present as possible as a husband and father to my wife and our three children, respectively.

Dr. Amparo chose a career in medicine to help empower people to make positive changes in their lives to change the course of disease. He is a firm believer that primary care is on the front lines of healthcare and, as such, has the greatest opportunity for affecting changes in the overall health of our community.

Interests and hobbies: Spending time with my family, traveling and geocaching

Dr. Maddox joined the faculty in 2003. Board certified in pulmonary medicine, critical care medicine and internal medicine, Dr. Maddox coordinates the ICU service at York Hospital for the residents. He provides strong leadership to one of the most challenging and rewarding rotations in the residency. Residents have an opportunity to work with him during their ICU and pulmonary rotations.

Dr. Tandan majored in biology while in college and, to fully understand the heart at a molecular level, later pursued a PhD dissertation studying the underlying pathophysiology of heart failure and electrical signaling in the heart while in graduate school in Dallas. He followed that with a medical degree and went on to complete internal medicine training in New York City.

Interests and hobbies: I enjoy spending time with my family, relaxing at home, tennis, swimming and Formula 1 racing. I also like to travel the world, and have volunteered in developing countries, including Rwanda, with Team Heart.

Dr. Pasumarthy joined the faculty in 2001 after completing her residency at WellSpan York Hospital. She serves as an attending on the inpatient service and at Apple Hill Internal Medicine. She enjoys science and helping others. Dr. Pasumarthy’s career fulfills both those goals and offers her the ability to teach less experienced physicians.

Interests and hobbies: Spending time with my family and exercising as much as possible

Dr. McKeague came to WellSpan York Hospital from Rochester, Minnesota, in 1998. On his way, he spent a year serving as the Chief Resident at the Scottsdale, Arizona Mayo Clinic. Dr. McKeague coordinates the weekly Internal Medicine Grand Rounds Lecture Series and the Ambulatory Lecture Series given throughout the year.

Dr. Chasko comes from a family of physicians and has always had an interest in biology and how remarkable the human body is. Although she majored in journalism in college, becoming a physician was always her career goal. Dr. Chasko pursued internal medicine because she likes working with adults from adolescents to the elderly and sifting through multiple organ systems and problems.

She enjoys educating our future physicians and is proud to serve on WellSpan's faculty for our internal medicine residency program and work with visiting third-year medical students from Drexel University and Penn State University.

Dr. Chasko practices standard evidence-based medicine, following the guidelines put forth by the CDC, American College of Physicians and the United States Preventive Services Task Force.

Interests and hobbies: I spend my free time with my sons Chase and JJ outside in our yard or going for walks. In the summertime, I try to escape to the Jersey Shore for crab feasts while watching sunsets by the water. During the winter, I count down the days until spring training, when our beloved Phillies will hit the field yet again.

Medical school: Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy

Dr. Nacu’s decision to study medicine stems neither from a childhood dream nor a specific moment in her past. Instead, it has its roots in science, which was her primary interest in school. Medicine's forward-thinking nature intrigues her most, as it builds on what’s already known to better the lives of others. Medicine is a career she deeply cherishes because it allows her to positively impact patients both physically and emotionally.

Interests and hobbies: I love hiking and exploring U.S. parks with my husband and two kids. We enjoy pampering our two cats and gardening and growing vegetables with variable success. Also, I find joy in everything that has music in it — I love listening and dancing to all types of music, and most of all, I enjoy all classical ballet shows.

Dr. Tredici decided to become a doctor because it was a way to combine her love of people and her love of science. She also enjoys medicine because it constantly pushes her to improve, both personally and intellectually. Dr. Tredici is grateful that she can help her patients in times of trouble and share her knowledge with her patients, students and residents.

Interests and hobbies: I enjoy spending time with my husband, children and dog. We do the typical running around getting the kids to their activities, the dog walked and the errands done. I like to garden, hike, swim and travel.

Dr. Montgomery chose a career in medicine due to her love for learning and helping sick people. She is intentional about listening to people and enjoys meeting and getting to know people.

Interests and hobbies: She enjoys taking walks, eating, attending church, watching shows, convincing herself to exercise, traveling and much more.

Dr. Fischman chose a career in medicine because it combined his interests in working with people, teaching and scientific inquiry. He feels honored to be able to work with patients in helping them reach their health goals.

Interests and hobbies: I spend much of my work week as a physician informaticist, working with our information services teams figuring out how we can make better use of clinical information systems to care for patients.

Dr. Thimmapuram finds the medical profession to be a wonderful opportunity to serve and make a difference to not only those he treats but also their entire family. Being interested in science and the function of the body, he was drawn to pursue a career in medicine. He enjoys medicine because it presents the opportunity for patient care, research and teaching. Dr. Thimmapuram feels that the field of medicine is both an art and a science. He believes being gentle, kind, compassionate and respectful to those he cares for supports a faster healing process. He does the best he can to pursue this approach and works with residents to implement it to the best possible extent.

Interests and hobbies: I enjoy spending quality time with my family and kids’ activities. I also practice heartfulness meditation and have conducted various workshops and research projects related to this practice. I feel it has offered me a great benefit in maintaining a state of inner calmness and tranquility while going through the ups and downs of life.
