The mission of the orthopedic surgery training program at WellSpan York Hospital is to provide residents with comprehensive, structured, cognitive and clinical education that will enable them to become competent, proficient and professional orthopedic surgeons.
Scope of training and objectives
Training

- adult and pediatric trauma and fracture management
- subspecialty exposure to spine, hand, foot and ankle, and sports medicine
Objectives
Following both the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Program Requirements and the American Osteopathic Association Basic Standards, the orthopedic surgery residency program provides residents with the skills to become compassionate, proficient and professional orthopedic surgery physicians.

- practice-based learning and improvement
- osteopathic philosophy and osteopathic manipulative medicine

At the conclusion of the first academic year, you’ll gain credit for an osteopathic internship, as well as for your first post-graduate year of residency.
