Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
I knew that I wanted to be an orthopedic surgeon after I participated in an externship while an undergraduate. Orthopedics combines all of my interests in anatomy, biology and biomechanics. The ability to apply those disciplines and make a direct impact on the lives of my patients' musculoskeletal health gives me an amazing sense of accomplishment. I enjoy being a partner with my patients as they regain their musculoskeletal health and return to a pain-free functional life.
What I want my patients to know about me:
Foot and ankle surgery is complex and I enjoy its intricacies. I bring 13 years of experience to each and every patient that I care for, including one of the best foot and ankle fellowships in the country, and five years of experience doing complex reconstructive surgery on war trauma in the Navy. I have also assembled a comprehensive care team to serve my patients in their foot and ankle care. Whether it's a routine foot and ankle condition or a complex multiple surgery second opinion, my team of nurses, physical therapist, athletic trainer and sports medicine physicians are ready to remedy.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
Being an orthopedic surgeon is a busy profession, but when I am not working my family is my greatest enjoyment. I am married to a beautiful wife who is a pediatrician at WellSpan. We have three wonderful boys who are incredibly busy with school and playing hockey, soccer and tennis. Watching their growth and achieving their potential is our greatest reward. We are ardent Michigan State University and Detroit Red Wings fans, and we enjoy following them closely. Go Green!

The visit seemed rushed and a resident met with me first- I don't feel like I was able to explain the full experience that I was having with my foot- the effect of the NSAID and the different ways that I experienced discomfort- and different reasons/where exactly on my foot- I believe that if he asked more questions- I would have been able to better explain all of my concerns
