Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:

Medicine has been a part of my life since I was a child. My father was a family physician in a small town just outside of Baltimore. I was able to watch his day-to-day interaction with patients and the relationships that he had built. They were not just patients but friends and neighbors. Though medicine has changed quite a bit over the last 25-30 years, it is still about relationship building. Transitioning from an early career in Family Medicine into a fast-paced emergency room for 17 years and now into Urgent Care has been exciting so far.

What I want my patients to know about me:

After graduating from medical school in 1994 and family medicine residency in 1997, transitioning from family medicine into the emergency department was where I found my niche. I have enjoyed aspects of medicine that include sports medicine and orthopedics, ophthalmology, dermatology but more recently I have an increasing interest in teaching the next generation as well as patients.

What I do when I'm not seeing patients:

Although I love medicine and caring for patients, my wife, five children and my local church are most important. Keeping a healthy perspective on life and a balance of the pressures and joys of life can be difficult but rewarding. I enjoy most sports and the outdoors as well as traveling, counseling for special needs and boys camps and participating in mission trips whenever possible.
