Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:

I chose to go into medicine after helping family members deal with chronic illnesses. I have been in nursing for 17 years, enjoying caring for patients and families. During my nursing career, I also worked as a SAFE nurse, taking care of victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse, and elder abuse. Most recently, I became a nurse practitioner, so I could directly impact patients' care. I enjoy caring for the whole patient and their family-empowering patients and improving their overall health. Family practice allows me to take care of infants to elderly and treat all illnesses.

What I want my patients to know about me:

Taking care of families and patient relationships is a major part of what I do. I enjoy taking care of the whole patient-medical, psychological, in a holistic manner. I also empower patients to take an active part in their care and maintaining their health. Encouraging safe relationships and healthy parenting is an important part of my care. I feel I am very honest with my patients, but also respect their choices.

What I do when I'm not seeing patients:

I enjoy spending time with my two growing boys. I love outdoor activities, including walking, kayaking, fishing. Most of my outside activities revolve around family. I am involved in a local church and a variety of interest groups. I enjoy crocheting, cooking, and reading. If I'm not at work, I would love to be at the beach!
