Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:

During elementary and high school, I found that I had an interest and propensity towards the biological sciences. Exposure to the TV show Quincy M.E. and the autobiography of the doctor that show was based on, led me towards pathology. However, my biology curriculum at Ursinus College led me to employment as a research technician for a pharmaceutical company. As I explored furthering my academic career, I was exposed to a few interactions with people where I enjoyed providing listening and guidance. I was also exposed to a few family physicians and was impressed how they were able to combine making a difference in persons lives with the science of medicine. As I was prayerfully pondering my future academic path, a few friends told me "out of the blue" that I would make a good doctor. When I realized that their spontaneous words of encouragement were actually my calling, my course in life was set.

What I want my patients to know about me:

I prefer to let my patients speak for me. I will say that I enjoy getting to know my health partners (patients) and discussing our mutual interests (other than their health) when time allows.

What I do when I'm not seeing patients:

My wife and I enjoy traveling which has led us to South Africa, the South Pacific, Central America, Europe, and across the States. Some of these travels have been to help in environmental research with an organization called Earthwatch. We continue to look for opportunities to broaden our horizons. I have always enjoyed working with my hands and doing manual labor. Through the years this has included auto mechanics, modeling, gardening, and carpentry. Recently, I have been helping with remodeling of our home, mostly finishing work. I have enjoyed being involved in some local organizations, namely the Cocalico Community Partnership and the organizing committee for Rothsville Community Day. When I can, I have participated in committees at my church, Quentin United Church of Christ.

We love Dr Bade. However, your system is turning these doctors into robots. Doctors are not allowed to doctor anymore, and visits are so impersonal. We were in the office for over an hour and answered all of the prepopulated questions that were asked. But there was no individualized care.

This was an amazing experience. My husband and I felt heard. We never felt like we were over anxious parents. We left feeling supported and much calmer. He took the time to allow Lola to touch the tools to allow her to understand and stay calm
