Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
I grew up in Arlington, Va., but I was actually born in an Indonesian refugee camp. My family immigrated to the United States from Vietnam when I was only a couple of months old. I was high school valedictorian before attending the University of Virginia for my undergraduate studies. I then attended Eastern Virginia Medical School, which is where I met my wife, Brooke. After medical school, we moved to Delaware for my general surgery training. We then moved to Cleveland, which is where we lived while I completed my Plastic Surgery Fellowship with the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. I loved the idea that every day is different when you work in plastic surgery. I feel like I get to know the patients better, too, than when I trained in general surgery. I really enjoy building that relationship with patients. There's a creative aspect to it as well. You can do the same procedure many different ways based on the patient's desires and aesthetic goals
What I want my patients to know about me:
I love the idea that every day is different when you work in plastic surgery. Not only does it offer some creativity, but also I feel like I get to know the patients better than when I trained in general surgery. I really enjoy building that relationship and helping them achieve their desired goals, whether that is to return to normal function or to enhance their appearance. My wife is from Chambersburg and she has always talked about returning, to be closer to both of our families. We've been together for more than 10 years, so I had visited the area many times and have seen the growth in Chambersburg. Over my many visits, I have grown to love the area as well and became open to the idea of settling down here permanently. Having talked with my wife's family and researching the area, I felt as though the community could use a plastic surgeon's services such that patients would not have to be referred out of town to get care.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I like to play a lot of sports. Basketball is my favorite to play, but I'm a huge Washington football team fan – I'm finally a season ticket holder, after having been on the waitlist for years. My provider was very patient with me. I was there to receive steroid injections but am very bad with needles. I experienced lightheadedness and discomfort during the treatment process, and both the nurse and Dr. Ledinh were very understanding and listened to my concerns and reactions and gave me food and drink to help me through it.

This visit is an elective visit and not based on health concerns. Dr. LaDin's office, staff and practice are always top shelf. They are kind, considerate, and respectful of my time and concerns. I cannot say this about other Wellspan medical groups in the Chambersburg area. I find other offices chaotic, and administrative staff overloaded. I am actively doing everything I can to move out of Wellspan care, including driving 3 hours to Pittsburgh.
