Join WellSpan for an event designed to foster a more informed and resilient community as we host our "Community Life Support Day." Participants will learn essential life-saving training through hands-on education and understanding the importance of quick responses in emergencies. What to Expect: American Heart Association certified instructors aligned with the WellSpan Training will present Heartsaver CPR AED course, a video-based, instructor-led course designed for anyone with limited or no medical training who desire the skills needed to perform CPR and use an AED in emergency situations. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card valid for two years. All participants will receive American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR AED book to keep. 

What students will learn:

  • Describe how high-quality CPR improves survival.
  • Explain the concepts of the Chain of survival.
  • Recognize when someone needs CPR.
  • Perform high-quality CPR and AED use for an adult, child or infant.
  • Describe how to perform CPR with help from others.
  • Describe when and how to help a choking adult, child or infant.

This course teaches skills with the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback, and guide the students’ learning of skills.
