Do you struggle with managing your mental health? Is your history of substance use interfering with how you process your emotions in your sobriety? Within “Creating Acceptance, Peace & Stability" (CAPS) group, participants learn to discuss these concerns in a group setting that is safe, with the guidance of a therapist. Group will consist of others that share similar experiences with mental health and substance use in a judgement-free zone. Group will help to identify how to appropriately manage these processes. While receiving aid for mental health, group will allow individuals to recognize the activities of completion that are necessary for daily living. Coping skills will be addressed throughout group, which could help to cope with stressors and symptoms. Group sessions will focus on:
Participants must be diagnosed with severe and/or chronic mental illness, must have a history of substance use disorder, and must currently be committed to sobriety. Interested participants must not have active psychosis, active addiction, or active SI/HI symptoms. The minimum time of sobriety is two months.

This group is held in person at Edgar Square and meets on Mondays from 12:00 to 1:00 pm with group leader Kara LeCates, LCSW. While all efforts will be made to assist you in entering a group as quickly as possible, you may need to be temporarily added to a waitlist.
